NCCC finishes as regional runner-up

Niagara County Community College recently wrapped up its most successful softball season in school history with a runner-up finish in the Region III A bracket. The Thunderwolves took No. 2 Corning Community College to a decisive third game before falling in the championship series. N-Trip finished with an overall record of 31-19 - the 31 wins being the most in program history. 

Niagara CCC 13, Corning CC 4 (5 inn.)

The T-Wolves' offense exploded in the first game of the series, becoming the first team to top the Red Barons via the mercy rule this season. Freshman Sydney Sexton was 2-for-2 with a home run, double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Classmate Shelby Wolf clubbed a three-run home run, while freshman Maggiemay Murrins was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and sophomore Lydia Serrano was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Serrano also earned the win in the circle - her school-record 21st of the season. Also for NCCC, freshman Mariah Semple was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and fellow frosh Makayla Montes finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

Corning CC 14, Niagara CCC 11

NCCC fell behind early, but battled back to an 11-10 fourth-inning deficit before ultimately falling in a high-scoring affair. Wolf was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, Sexton finished 2-for-4 with a long ball and two RBIs and Murrins ripped a three-run blast in the setback. 

Corning CC 11, Niagara CCC 2

The Thunderwolves had a rough start and couldn't recover in the finale. Montes hit a solo home run, while Serrano and Murrins each finished with two hits.
