The Erie men's basketball team had a busy weekend with three road games on the schedule. Friday night the Kats traveled to Queens, NY to take on LaGuardia Community College. The Kats defeated the Red Hawks 115-33.
On Saturday, Erie traveled to New Rochelle, NY to participate in the Monroe College MLK Classic. The Kats split the two games, dropping the first game to the Sullivan Community College Generals 84-70 and then defeating Essex County College 95-84 on Sunday.
Nicholas O'Neil and A'Mage Tate would lead in scoring over the Generals, each putting up 13 points. Nathan Severson added 11 of his own. The two teams were tied at the half but Erie could not come back from an early 7-0 run by Sullivan in the second half as the Generals led for the remainder of the game.
Erie would bounce back on Sunday with a win against Essex. The Kats had four players in double digits against the Wolverines. Leading the way for the Erie was Severson with 27 points including going 7-11 from beyond the arc. Reed Samuels had 18 points while Tate and Michael Agiddi put up 13 each.
The Kats are back on the court for another road contest on January 21st when they travel to Jamestown to take on the Jayhawks at 3:00 pm.
