Season Preview: Roadrunner Wrestling Looks to Continue Proud Tradition

Roadrunner Wrestling begins their 2022-23 season this week, and head coach Alex Reeves hopes to continue a proud tradition of success enjoyed by the program the past few seasons.

In his first year as head coach, Reeves guided the team to a national championship tournament qualifying berth, and produced an All-American wrestler (Nick DiGiacomo), six national qualifiers, and two District champions.

This year's roster will feature a mix of experienced wrestlers and talented freshmen, and Reeves is hoping the program will continue on a winning path once again. See season preview below.

Last Season: The Roadrunners returned to the NJCAA National Championship Tournament for a third straight year and again emerged as Garden State Athletic Conference champions. The program produced All-American wrestler Nick DiGiacomo, two District champions, and six national qualifier wrestlers.

Season Opener: Friday, November 4th, vs. Rutgers Club, 6 pm, Deptord, NJ.

Outlook for 2022-23: The Runners have enough depth and experience to compete once again for a GSAC title and a National Tournament berth. Reeves will rely on his lightweights and middleweights to carry most of the load in dual meets.

Coach Alex Reeves on 2022-23 season: "We don't have a large number of kids on the roster, but we have some quality athletes," said Reeves. "I feel we will be very competitive, especially as we move toward the postseason."
