Men’s Soccer Downs Panthers

SOUTH PRINCE GEORGE, VA – The Richard Bland College men's soccer team moves to 2-0 in conference play, 2-0 overall after traveling to Denmark Technical College Friday, August 26th for back to back contests to open Region 10 play. On Friday, the Statesmen took a narrow 2-1 win over the Panthers. Less than 24 hours later, the Statesmen blanked the Panthers 2-0.

 

On Friday afternoon, the Panthers were the first to get on the board at the 20 minute mark of the first half. Juan Gomez snuck one past the keeper off a pass from Matthew Lewis, to even the score 1-1 in the 30th minute. The score remained even until the 85th minute when Andrew Retmier teamed up with Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins for the game winning goal. Cristian Rodriguez played all 90 minutes in net and was credited with three saves on the day.

 

On Saturday afternoon, Richard Bland got ahead early in the 15th minute on an unassisted goal by Seraphim Davis. Five minutes later, Edgar Jose Reboredo Martins and Raquan Bryant teamed up to seal the deal putting the Statesmen ahead 2-0. The score remained 2-0 through regulation. Cristian Rodriguez was credited with three saves.

 

The Richard Bland men's soccer team next hosts Spartanburg Methodist College on Saturday, September 3rd at 2pm for their home opener.
