Generals defeat third straight conference opponent

TROY, NY – Defeating their third straight Mountain Valley Conference opponent on the road in the last eight days, the Herkimer Generals men's basketball team remained undefeated against DIII competition Sunday (11/16), defeating Hudson Valley 78-63.

Herkimer (5-1, 3-0) played well throughout, accumulating 13 more assisting than the Vikings and eight less turnovers. With a nice flow to the game, it allowed eight Generals to score in the contest.

Scoring in double figures were both Jamell Johnson (Rochester, NY) and Carson Murphy (Mohawk, NY). Johnson finished with a season-high 20 points and Murphy added 13. Both players have been held to less than double figures only once in six games.

Also having another solid game for the Generals was sophomore Ken Woodard (Bronx, NY). The forward scored seven points, but grabbed 10 rebounds and accumulated three steals and four blocks. Behind Woodard by three rebounds (7) was Dantre Langhorne (Greenport, NY). The sophomore also added six point, two assist and four steals.

Rounding out the scoring for Herkimer was Daniel Owens (Albany, NY), Julio Galay (Bronx, NY), Pat Dorrian (Kingston, NY) and Jallah Tarver (Schenectady, NY). Owens had nine, Galay had seven, Dorrian had five and Tarver had two points.

The Generals end their four-game road trip this Saturday (11/22) when they host Corning Community College in the varsity gym. Game time between the Generals and Red Barons is scheduled for 12 p.m.
