Scotties Downed by the Cavaliers

Box Score The #18 Highland Scotties faced the Johnson County Cavaliers in their second match-up this season looking to take the win from their conference woe after losing to them just weeks ago.

The first half of the contest was struggle offensively with the Scotties only three point shots falling by Holden Redparth and Dylan Owen. The team had opportunities after earning eight offensive rebounds but could not get their shots to fall only shooting 30% from the field goal range. Highland grabbed 21 of their 36 total rebounds in the first half but were down headed into the half 26-37.

Taiveyon Mason kept the energy alive for the Scotties throughout the second half scoring 11 of his total 13 points. Holden Redparth was aggressive defensively grabbing five rebounds along with Alonzo Williams being a force throughout.

The Cavaliers took double the free-throw attempts as the Scotties and shot 8-20 from behind the arc compared to the Scotties 4-20. After being down 21 points with 5 minute to play in the game, the Scotties found a rhythm to bring the game back as close as a four point game but ran out of time losing 66-74.

Williams led alongside Redparth with 13 and 12 points respectively; both combining for 16 of the teams 36 rebounds. Kevin Perry came off the bench to grab six rebounds and score 4 points. Mason continued to be reliable with 13 points, four rebounds, and two assists.

The Scotties are now 20-7 on the year and 4-2 in conference play. They will host the Hesston Larks (14-9, 2-5) on Saturday at 3:00PM.
