Two RBI's in the 1st inning by Scottie sophomore Kayla Ross and Aubry Hernandez start the Scottie off to a 2-0 lead over MCC-Maplewoods on a Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City Missouri. The scoring did not stop there as Sam Moran started off the 2nd inning with a homerun. Kenzie Garvin, Maddie Moore, and Ross hit an RBI to put the Scotties up 6-1. With 2 more runs scored in the 4th by Maddy Miller and MCC battle back fell short, the Scotties won 8-5. Haley Donaldson was the Scotties winning pitcher.
In the second game of the day, HCC made quick work throughout the first 3 innings of the game. Kennadi Barron pitched the whole game for the Scotties. Kayla Ross proved her success hitting a homerun scoring Moore. Kaori Corn stepped in for the Scotties hitting an RBI in the 2nd inning and Whitney DeGonia found her bat in the 3rd inning hitting a homerun scoring Hernandez. The Scotties won 9-1 helping their overall record to 5-3. Kayla Ross went 5-7 on the day hitting 4 RBI's and scoring 3 runs. Garvin hit 2 RBI's, went 5-9 with 3 runs scored and Moran went 4-7 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored.
The HCC Scottie softball team will play again in the Cloud County Tournament that will take place in Concordia, Kan. On March 4th and 5th.
