Cayuga Community College Men's Basketball lost its season-opening contest to Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse at Spartan Hall on Monday.

The Spartans fell behind early and were unable to catch the Bobcats, losing 95-58. Cayuga is on the road Thursday at Finger Lakes Community College to open their Region III and Mid-State Athletic Conference schedule.

Cayuga struggled early on the offensive end against the Bobcats, but rallied late to cut the 19-point margin to 37-26 at the half. Bryant & Stratton controlled the second half, though, pulling away to secure the win.

Freshman guard Jorge Jimenez led Cayuga with 14 points, and forwards Wol Machteng and Alejandro Castellanos finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively. Tony Borges added eight points and led the team with seven rebounds, and DJ Johnson added six boards.

After the road game at Finger Lakes CC on Thursday, the Spartans are back home to host Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday.
