The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA Div II, 1-12) welcomed the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College (NJCAA Div II, 16-4) for the Jayhawks home opener. The first inning ended in a scoreless tie but when the Thuderwolves came up to bat in the second inning, the game broke wide open as the Thunderwolves scored 6 runs. The Jayhawks settled down and both teams struggled on offense through the next 3 innings. In the 6th inning, the Thunderwolves added 2 more runs to their lead and in the 7th put the game out of reach scoring 5 more runs to down the Jayhawks 13-0. The Jayhawks offense was led by #3 John White (Warren), #15 Connor Fitzgerald (Ontario), #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown), #6 Jimmy Schuab (Falconer), and #2 Cam Haberberger (Jamestown) who had 1 hit a piece. #21 Robbie Burgess (Westfield) and #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) each had a sacrifice fly. #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) (1-3) took the loss for the Jayhawks facing 29 batters, allowing 8 hits and 6 earned runs, and striking out 3 batters. #25Jeremy Cole (Sherman) also saw pitching action.
Game 2 did not go well for the Jayhawks on offense or defense. The Thunderwolves pitcher was in the zone and tossed a no hitter, ending the game after 5 innings with a 11-0 victory. #22 Brandon Pistner (Amherst) (0-2) took the loss for the Jayhawks facing 6 batters, allowing 1 hit and 5 earned runs. #9 Jeff Miller (Jamestown) also saw action on the mound and struck out 4 batters.
