Cayuga Community College Baseball earned a split with Onondaga Community College on Wednesday behind strong outings on the mound from Cam Langille and Jared King.

Langille and King combined for a two-hitter as the Spartans shut out the Lazers in the opener, 4-0. Cayuga rallied from an early deficit in the second contest but fell in the later innings, 3-2. Cayuga is now 17-13 on the season and 9-3 in Mid-State Athletic Conference play.

Cayuga took an early lead in the opener when Juan Perez hit a two-run homer, his first of the season, scoring Alex Gaudet. Langille held the Lazers hitless through four innings, and the Spartans tacked on two more in the fourth, including one on an RBI single by Kevin Dolan. King and the Spartans' defense held the Lazers scoreless in the final three innings to complete the shutout.

Langille struck out four in four innings, and King struck out four and allowed two hits in three innings. Perez went one-for-two with a homer, run and two RBI, and Brandon Hoftijzer and Yoldi Soriano each finished the game with a single and run scored.

The Lazers struck first in the second game, plating two runs in the first inning. Cayuga rallied in the bottom half of the inning, with Perez singling home Gaudet and Bradley Soto-Diaz to tie the game. Cayuga put runners in scoring position in five of the next six innings, but failed to score again the rest of the way. The Lazers scored what turned out to be the winning run on an error in the fifth inning.

Dolan went a perfect three-for-three at the plate in the second game, and Soto-Diaz and Hoftijzer both went two-for-three. Christian Eddy threw a complete game for the Spartans.

Cayuga is on the road Thursday, May 2, at Corning Community College. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m.
