Lady Commodores Volleyball Loses at Top-Ranked Owens CC
Oct. 4, 2017 -- The Lorain County Community College volleyball team lost Wednesday evening to Owens Community College (Toledo, OH), the #1-ranked National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) volleyball team in the country in DII.
Even though the Lady Commodores lost in straight sets, 8-25, 6-25, 9-25, it marked the 9th consecutive conference (Ohio Community College Athletic Conference) match that Owens has won 3-0. In fact, in Owens' 23 matches (23-0, 9-0 in OCCAC), the Express have won 20 matches without losing a set. Owens has only lost four sets all season out of 41 sets played to reach its 23-0 mark.
The Express leads the OCCAC by three games in the loss column with a 9-0 record to date.
LCCC is now 10-12 overall and 2-6 in OCCAC play.
The Lady Commodores will travel to Clark State on Friday for a 6 p.m. match. LCCC won a home match the first time the two schools played this season on Sept. 22, 3-1 (25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18).
