Generals handle business at home Wednesday

(Julio Galay connects on the floater Wednesday night against SUNY Adirondack).

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals Men's Basketball team snapped their current three-game losing streak against Mountain Valley Conference opponent SUNY Adirondack Wednesday night, defeating the Timberwolves 82-52 at home.

Herkimer 19-7 (11-3) led by double-digits after Jerrell Hunter (Utica, NY) got to the line on consecutive possessions with 10:48 left in the first half. The lead stayed around the 10-point range until Enson Garcia (Bronx, NY) heated up from three-point land, knocking down two on consecutive possessions to bump the lead from 14 (38-24) to 17 (41-24).

The 17-point lead increased in the second half thanks in part to a 15-2 run. Julio Galay (Bronx, NY) had two, Jonathan Feiler (St. James, NY) had eight, Wendall Williams (Syracuse, NY) had four and Garcia had four in the run, which lasted nine minutes.

The lead didn't balloon to 30 points until the final possession of the game when Charles Reese (Hartford, CT) connected on a layup with less than five second left in regulation.

The Generals will be back on their home court this Saturday (2/15) when they host Columbia-Greene Community College. Game time between the Generals and the Twins is scheduled for 1 p.m.
