Bears Even Record with Win over NJCAA DII Arkansas State-Newport

HARRISON, Ark. – Dallas College Brookhaven's men's basketball team evened its record after beating Arkansas State-Newport, 73-68, Saturday at the North Arkansas College Pioneer Classic.

Brookhaven went 1-1 at the weekend tournament.

The Bears (4-4) outscored the Aviators, 40-34, in the second half to overcome a one-point halftime deficit.

The win over the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Aviators (4-3) was the Bears' second over a scholarship school this season, and snapped a two-game skid.

Curtis Trey Moffett scored 22 points, had six assists and a steal for the Bears. He was 8 of 12 from the floor. Terrell Palmer scored 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting, and had two steals. Grant Jessen finished with 12 points, 12 boards and two steals.

It was Jessen's second double-double of the season.

Brookhaven attempted five three-pointers, making three, with Palmer accounting for two of them.

Jackson Lino grabbed 11 boards, and the Bears were 22 of 29 from the free throw line.

It was Brookhaven's first neutral site win of the year.

The Beas will host Jacksonville College 6 p.m. Tuesday to complete the home-and-home series this year. Brookhaven beat Jacksonville, 77-64, on the road at the beginning of the month.
