The Lady Cannoneers Split on the Road

The Jefferson women's basketball team kicked off their Region 3 schedule with a double header on the road this weekend. Friday night the lady cannoneer's faced off with Hudson Valley. As in recent years it was a back and forth battle between the Vikings, and cannoneers. There were 18 lead changes, and 10 separate ties throughout the 40 minute contest. Jefferson's sophomore forward Alyson Crosby led the charge scoring a career high 36 points, and grabbing 14 rebounds. Ashlyn Eyles, and Chelsey Raven each totaled 13 points apiece, with freshman guard Bailey Zicari notching 11 on the night. In the end Hudson Valley squeaked out a 1 point victory 86-85 for the cannoneers first Region 3 loss of the season.

The Lady Cannoneer's would have a quick turn around and be right back to business as they faced off with Adirondack CC at 11 am the next morning. It didn't seem the small roster of 8 had tired legs as they jumped out to an early lead against ACC. Behind a strong performance from sophomore forward Chelsey Raven the Cannoneers wouldn't relinquish their lead through the 40 minute contest. Raven would finish the day with 22 points, and 19 rebounds. Eyles pitched in her second career triple double in a Cannoneer uniform with 18 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds. Zicari and Crosby each contributed 13 and 10 points respectfully. With the win Jefferson moves to 1-1 i Region 3 play, they will kick off their first home game this Wednesday at home verse Mohawk Valley at 5 pm.
