TAMPA, Fla. – No. 4 Northwest Florida women's basketball used a strong second half to pull away from Hillsborough, 79-61, Tuesday.
Fapou Semebene scored 20 points and Chanaya Pinto landed 16 to lead the Raiders. Rayven Peeples chipped in with 11 points and Terese Da Silva had nine with a pair of 3-pointers.
The Raiders (14-0) trailed 16-11 after the first quarter, but outscored Hillsborough 29-18 to take control of the game. Northwest Florida and its NJCAA leading defense held the Hawks just eight points in the third period to open a 21-point advantage.
Northwest Florida will now rest for the holidays before returning to action Dec. 30-31 on the road in Bossier City, La., for the Bossier Classic.
