Achievement Award
Reserved for recognizing superior athletic success, the Achievement Award is presented to a former NJCAA student-athlete that has displayed outstanding ability in national, professional, Olympic or international competition while also displaying excellent ethical character. Dom Dwyer - Tyler Junior College (TX)
Dom Dwyer began his collegiate soccer career at NJCAA member Tyler Junior College in Tyler, TX. Wanting to pursue a career on the field as well as earn a college degree, Tyler offered both for the England native. At Tyler, Dwyer led the Apaches to claim two national titles in 2009 and 2010 with a combined record of 41-0-1. As a sophomore, Dwyer was named the 2010 NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer Player of the Year after scoring 37 goals.
Dwyer graduated from Tyler in 2011 and went on to continue his collegiate soccer career at NCAA Division I University of South Florida. During his time with the Bulls, Dwyer scored 16 goals in 21 games before declaring for the 2012 MLS SuperDraft and being selected as the 16th overall pick by Sporting Kansas City. Throughout his professional career, Dwyer played for Sporting Kansas City, Orlando City, Toronto FC, and most recently Atlanta United. In 2017, he played internationally for the United States men's national team where he scored a total of two goals in two games making him only the ninth player in USMNT history to score two goals in as many appearances.
