Dr. Parker named to AACC USOPC committees

Charlotte, NC – NJCAA President & CEO Dr. Christopher Parker has been named to two prominent committees - the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission on Student Success and the Nominating and Governance Committee of the United States Olympic and Paralympics.

With his role with the AACC, Parker will team up with higher education leaders from around the country to focus on student access and success, and organizational transformation. One of six standing commissions of the AACC, the Commission on Student Success seeks to examine subject areas revolving around degree completion and two-year to four-year transfer capabilities.

Parker will serve as the NJCAA representative on the Commission for a one-year appointment through June 30, 2020.

Parker expressed his enthusiasm regarding the appointment. "AACC is one of the top standing community college leadership platforms in the country and I am honored to serve on the Council for Student Success, as we will continue to use athletics as a mechanism to support student success."

With the appointment to the USOPC, Parker's duties include vetting candidates for various roles in the USOC and the USOPC. Parker will also provide leadership and insight to policies and governance within the organization.

"I am honored and privileged to accept this role with the USOC and serving the United States and everyone associated as a member of the Nomination and Governance committee," stated Parker.

Parker was selected for the role based on a number of criteria including not-for-profit governance and sports business and administration experience
