#NJCAADay - An Opportunity to Serve

Charlotte, NC – For the third consecutive year, the NJCAA will host its annual #NJCAADay, the association's day of celebrating its student-athletes, staff, alumni, and all those affiliated with its member institutions. This year's #NJCAADay will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17.

A day dedicated for NJCAA members and those associated with the institutions to express the pride they have for their school, conference, region, and national affiliation, the overarching theme of the 2019 #NJCAADay is 'Opportunity to Serve'. As NJCAA campuses rely heavily on the support of its local communities, #NJCAADay will serve as an opportunity for institutions to give back to those who support student-athletes both on the competitive playing areas and in the classroom.

"The support that our member colleges receive from their surrounding communities is instrumental each and every day," stated Ricky Webster, NJCAA Director of Marketing and Communications. "This year, #NJCAADay will allow for our member colleges to reciprocate that support by giving back to their communities through a number of initiatives."

Member colleges are encouraged to engage with their community on #NJCAADay through a variety of opportunities:

  • Community service projects
  • Food/clothing drives
  • Campus/community cleanup
  • Reading to local children
  • Distributing posters/schedules to the community
  • Fan appreciation night
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Month initiatives

"Building relationships between our association and those who support our student-athletes is what makes two-year colleges so special," Webster added. "Student-athletes come from all over the world to attend our two-year colleges, oftentimes unaware of how much the community has to offer them. #NJCAADay will serve as the bridge to further those relationships for years to come."
