Transfer Transcripts

Effective with the 2014-2015 academic year, student-athletes in the NJCAA are required to have official transcripts or copies of official transcripts when calculating transfer credits for NJCAA eligibility.  Official transcripts or copies of official transcripts are required for documentation of ALL college enrollment and work.

SITUATION:

Student-Athlete R is a transfer student who previously attended a four year college and one other community college before enrolling at Community College B.  Official transcripts were obtained from one of the previous colleges.  He/she owes money to the other college and cannot get his/her official transcript.  The student-athlete meets academic requirements based on their work at the one school and that work is documented on an official transcript from that school.  Is this student eligible without using credits from the one school where no transcript is obtainable? Are official transcripts still required from that school?

ANSWER:

NJCAA bylaws require official transcripts from all previous colleges which he/she attended. If the student-athlete meets NJCAA academic requirements without those credits he/she may be eligible provided his/her terms of enrollment at the college, where an official transcript is not obtainable, are verified in a letter signed by the registrar.  The full-time terms will still count but no credits can be used from the college, where an official transcript is not obtainable.  If the registrar will not provide a letter verifying enrollment the student-athlete will be ineligible due to the fact that all required paperwork for eligibility is not on file.
