Brian Luckett joined the NJCAA National Office in 2018 as director of external affairs and development. In 2019 he was named vice president for external affairs and development and elevated to senior vice president in 2022. He has also served as the executive director of the NJCAA Foundation since its founding in 2019. 

Luckett’s responsibilities include oversight of marketing and communications, revenue generation, sponsorships, licensing, branding and national championship operations. He also oversees the association’s media rights including the NJCAA Network and national championship productions.

During his time with the NJCAA National Office, Luckett secured the NJCAA’s first national television broadcast agreement with CBS Sports Network in 2019 and a multi-year media rights agreement with ESPN in 2022. Luckett has also spearheaded revenue generation, including increasing corporate sponsor revenue by over 45 percent and partnering with Van Wagner to become the exclusive multi-media rights partner of the NJCAA in 2023. Through the NJCAA Foundation, he secured the first grant opportunities with support from the NFL and First Point Volleyball Foundation to fund emerging sports in women’s flag football and men’s volleyball, respectively. 

As a top priority upon his arrival, Luckett guided the NJCAA through a brand update to create consistency across the association which included updates to NJCAA official marks and the unveiling of new national championship logos for all NJCAA championship events. In 2020, the NJCAA released an enhanced website that reflected the updated brand and new features. As part of the College Football 150th Anniversary, Luckett represented junior college football on the Marketing and Events Advisory Committee. 

Before joining the NJCAA, Luckett served as the senior director of marketing and communications at Pfeiffer University, where he managed all university external affairs. Previous to joining Pfeiffer, Luckett was the associate athletic director of external affairs and corporate and donor relations coordinator at NJCAA member Patrick Henry Community College. He managed fundraising, external affairs and financial operations while at Patrick Henry, including updating the athletic department brand. Luckett began his athletic career at the University of Virginia with the university licensing program, where he managed all licensing operations and branding, in addition to working with marketing and promotions. As an undergraduate student, he worked in the Virginia Football Office as a lead student operations assistant working first in recruiting operations and later in special projects for football administration.

Luckett has a bachelor’s degree in government and a master’s degree in higher education administration, with a concentration in collegiate athletic administration, from the University of Virginia.
